The appropriate techniques will be applied specific to addressing relaxation and/or recovery, injury rehabilitation.

Reflexology:

Specific therapy done primarily on the feet but may also include the hands, ears and face. Your therapist uses their fingers, thumbs and hands to apply pressure to the various reflex points. It is based on the theory that the reflex points in the hand or feet represent all areas of the body. By stimulating those points, the reflexive areas are relaxed or energized, balancing the body and mind. Countless research studies have shown that reflexology positively affects our health, stress levels, state of relaxation and helps to reduce pain. If you enjoy a foot massage, this will feel like heaven!

Trigger Point Therapy:

Developed by Janet Travell M.D., a technique which addresses and releases trigger points which are hyper-irritable spots or zones that produce pain when stimulated by pressure or compression. Does your body feel like a toxic waste dump? It may be more literally true than you realized! Some evidence shows that a knot may be a patch of polluted tissue: a nasty little cesspool of waste metabolites. If so, it’s no wonder they hurt, and no wonder they cause so many strange sensations: it’s more like being poisoned than being injured. Back pain is the best known symptom of the common muscle knot, but they can cause an astonishing array of other aches and pains.

Is this like you?

Neuromuscular:

Restoring muscular imbalances which cause pain and limited range of motion by retraining the dysfunctional and garbled neurological information associated with muscle tissue.

Classic Swedish Massage:

Swedish Massage is a timeless style of massage that uses long flowing strokes to encourage relaxation, lymphatic drainage and detoxification. Great for stress reduction, relaxation, sleep inducement and improved circulation. Long, flowing massage strokes are used to ease tired muscles and relax the body. This combines well with areas of Deep Tissue Massage, Aromatherapy or Reflexology. A gentle but firm enough massage utilizing massage techniques to the muscles and connective tissues of the body. Results in relaxation, improved circulation and blood supply to the tissues of your body, improved energy and alertness, lower heart rate and blood pressure, release tense muscles, reduce depression and anxiety, and improve overall state of well being.

Deep Tissue:

This is a modality that uses a variety of soft tissue techniques on specific muscle groups that are chronically tense. The pressure is always adjusted to the client’s comfort level. It is effective in improving nagging, painful areas. Deep tissue is a soft tissue therapy which addresses the ligaments, tendons, muscle tissue and the superficial and deep fascia to relieve pain, restore normal muscular function and increase range of motion.

Range of Motion Stretching:

Range of motion stretching is a method of manipulation that lengthens pathologically shortened tissues such as muscles and tendons, to help joints achieve or maintain a normal range of motion.

Hot River Stone Therapy:
A soothing, relaxing and invigorating experience using water heated basalt river stones for relaxation, reduce anxiety, help with depression, increase blood flow, reduce muscle tension, soften connective tissues and promote restful sleep. Includes the use of smooth, heated basalt river stones to enhance your massage treatment. Applied with oil, the stones glide across the skin, warming and loosening the underlying tissues. The heat warms and relaxes the muscles, improves circulation and calms the nervous system. In addition, a few stones may be placed on Chakra points to help to re-balance the body and mind. A truly relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

Reiki:

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy therapy. This is a very quiet session performed with the hands above or lightly holding the energy centers of the body. Your therapist works with your intentions and visualizations to bring healing energies into the physical body. Reiki uses aromatherapy, sound, color, symbols, and intuition to balance and restore chakras, unblock meridians (energy pathways of the body), restore and protect our auras (energy fields surrounding our body), and bring harmony within our mind, body and spirit.

Meditation:

Meditation helps keep a person calm, even long after the meditation session is done. When I use a meditation massage technique, that is when the something 'extraordinary' truly begins! One client, totally skeptical, was so amazed by the simplicity and the results that he exclaimed “What is this? Magic!?” No, it is not magic, it’s simply “letting go.” Without release, this tension can lead to anything from breathing difficulties (even asthma) to irritable bowel syndrome and high blood pressure. As rigid muscles affect the nerves governing these vital organs. During a meditation massage session I get the client into a space where they can let go of past hurt, without talking or counseling. It is a completely personal and internal method. I personally meditate to quiet my mind and to be more present creating a grounding effect which helps me to be a better massage therapist.

Meditation is a wonderful state of relaxation and connection to your higher and true self that is always peaceful, whole and IN bliss no matter what is going on in your life. Meditation will not only improve your overall health and well being, but will also bring you into remembrance of who you truly are. I've heard it said; we live other people's lives until we decide to live our own.

Ask for your massage to finish with a short 'Guided Meditation' focused on relaxing the body and bringing peace to the mind.
